ASU Named a Top University Globally for Interdisciplinary Science

January 21, 2026

Arizona State University (ASU) set the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s leading hub for interdisciplinary research, discovery and development by 2030. Recently, the university took a major step toward that goal when it placed in the top 10 nationally and #14 globally in the latest Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings.

Developed in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows, the rankings assess more than 600 universities worldwide across three performance areas: financial investment, institutional support and research output.

ASU is already ranked the #1 most innovative university by U.S. News & World Report, holding the top spot for 11 consecutive years. Contributing to ASU’s success is its commitment to collaboration across scientific and non-STEM disciplines. The university is a major catalyst for talent development in the Phoenix Metro Area and beyond, greatly contributing to top industries and professions.
