Superior Mayor Mila Besich was honored with a Special Citation Award at the 42nd American Mining Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony and Fundraiser held this past weekend. The award was presented by the Mining and Mineral Education Foundation. In 30 years of the Mining Hall of Fame Special Citation Award there has only been one other elected official recognized and that was former Arizona Senator Dennis DeConcini.

Mayor Besich received this award in recognition of her strong advocacy for the importance of the Resolution Copper mine project to the U.S. economy and to green energy transition.

In receiving this recognition, Mayor Besich shared, “I am incredibly thankful to my family, friends and colleagues who have supported my work and encouraged me over the past 20 years. Working through the Resolution Copper EIS as Mayor has been an important piece of work, and I am proud of the progress we have made collectively to be a town with a world class mine. We are a small town, with a global impact!”
