November 21, 2024

Superior Mayor Mila Besich was proudly joined by Superior Town Manager Todd Pryor and Superior Arizona Trails Vice President James Schenck as presenters of the “Superior Gateway Community – With A Little Help From Our Friends” featured session at the 2024 National Trails Workshop, held November 17-21, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona.

Superior, AZ is the first gateway community of the Arizona National Trail. This session shared how a small rural community with limited resources established relationships to create and maintain a premier trail system and its benefits for outdoor recreation, increased quality of life and local economic development. Speakers discussed how the successful history of the construction, maintenance and upgrades to our trail system has only been possible with the support of many organizations and individuals including local government, federal and state agencies, private companies, nonprofits, non-resident individuals and Superior residents.
